Our Mission for Recreation

HKP recognizes that strangers and friends alike who play together, work together and care for one another. HKP supports events, sports teams, and programs that give families friends and neighbors a chance to connect.

Camp Scholarships
One high school senior currently enrolled in a local high school will be designated as the for that community, to be used for an undergraduate degree at the college of his/her choice. Depending on availability of the funds, the scholarship will range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Support for Local Teams
HKP will make an annual donation to scholarship funds that focus on qualified local students who need financial assistance in order to attend a 2 or 4 year college.

Financial Assistance for Extracurricular Programs
The first items to be cut from school budgets tend to be the extra-curricular programs. The HKP's philosophy is that these programs are vital aspects of personal growth, are integral in each student's educational experience and are important components of Community Spirit. A pending Request for Funds form will be provided to offer assistance.

South Orange Fund for Recreation & Cultural Affairs (FRCA)

FRCA is a privately funded program that provides financial assistance to help families who would not otherwise be able to afford to enroll their children in the Township of South Orange Village’s Recreation and Cultural Affairs programs.

Established in 2010, this fund offers financial assistance to families who would otherwise not be able to afford to enroll their children in the Township of South Orange Village Recreation & Cultural Affairs programs. In these tough economic times, many families rely on this program to provide their children with high-quality sports and cultural activities that enrich their lives. Funds for this program are provided through the HK Community Fund, which is a registered 501 (c)(3) public charity serving Maplewood and South Orange, and 100% of the proceeds go to support children who qualify.

We can all agree that some of the best memories from childhood stem from summer recreational and cultural programs bringing together kids from many different backgrounds. Let’s help make great memories for as many kids as possible here in South Orange.
